<p>Since we started our business in 2004, road maintenance and coilovers have been an important product group for us at SC Styling. This has also made us interested in learning more about road holding and the different components and products we sell in this area. Coilovers or adjustable chassis as it can also be called is a product that has literally exploded in the last 5 years. We were early on the ball and offered H&amp;R's full line of coilovers back in 2007, and a few years later we also chose to bring in less expensive coilovers options to offer our customers. Since 2019 we also offer the Bilstein range and like H&amp;R they have a solid range of coilovers and shock absorbers. We also sell the full AP range of coilovers. A company now owned by KW (the world's largest in chassis parts). Coilovers combine springs and shock absorbers in one unit. The flexibility of coilovers is that you can adjust the height to your liking. Having said that, coilovers are of course something that has become incredibly popular in the styling industry. However, what you should consider when thinking about purchasing a new coilovers kit is the main purpose itself. Do you just want to be able to raise and lower the car or are you also looking for a road holding system that will be able to withstand rough banking. There are different price ranges and qualities when it comes to the products available on the market. Let us tell you more here.</p>
<p><br><strong>Coilovers - pros and cons</strong><br>The big advantage of coilovers versus fixed lowering with a spring set, as we mentioned earlier, is the flexibility to adjust the height to the level you want. Of course, many people choose to raise the car during the winter season and then when spring comes and the summer rims go on, they choose to lower the car. There is also the low price that some manufacturers of coilovers keep. We at SC Styling sell coilovers in all price ranges, from the cheapest on the market to top brands such as Bilstein and H&amp;R. The latter manufacturers offer in their coilovers the possibility to also adjust the hardness of the shock absorbers, which is a must for many who intend to drive the car in tough conditions on the track. We always recommend submitting the car for a wheel alignment after a lowering has been done.</p>

<h3><strong>What are coilovers?</strong></h3>
<p>Coilovers are a combined spring and shock absorber assembled into a single unit, providing superb shock absorption.</p>
<h3><strong>What do coilovers do?</strong></h3>
<p>Coilovers raise or lower your car. You choose how much you want to raise/lower. Most commonly you can adjust about 35-65mm, but it depends on the car you have and the coils you choose.</p>
<h3><strong>Should I get coilovers or a lowering kit?</strong></h3>
<p>The advantage of coilovers is that you can adjust it as you like. For example, it might be a good idea to raise the car in the winter but lower it in summer and spring. The disadvantage of coilovers is that they are often more expensive than a lowering kit.</p>
<p>So a lowering kit is cheap, but cannot be fine-tuned. Coilovers can be raised and lowered according to season or mood, but are often a bit more expensive. In general, you get the quality you pay for.</p>
<h3><strong>How do you raise coilovers?</strong></h3>
<p>Most inexpensive models only have a locking ring and an adjusting ring on which the spring rests. That ring is screwed down or up, and that determines how much suspension the spring has. The hardness of the car depends on how high or low you set the coilovers.</p>
<p>On more expensive variants, you screw on the lower mount instead. These can therefore be adjusted in height without affecting suspension and hardness.</p>
