Taillights - Frequently asked questions and answers

What is a taillight?

Taillights are needed on virtually every vehicle. They are two red, rear-facing lights that shine with a faint glow. The brake light should be brighter than the taillights. Most rear lights today are LED lights, and they are increasingly common.

How do you change taillights?

Exactly how to replace the taillights depends on the make and model. But in general, you can either unscrew the bulb from the outside, or via the boot. If you see small screws on the outside, it can easily be replaced that way. Otherwise, you have to look for a panel in the boot, and unscrew it there.

If you're not sure how to replace a bulb, you can always ask a mechanic for help.

What does it mean if a lamp is E-marked?

If a lamp is E-marked, or E-approved, it means that it has been approved for use by the EU.

How many taillights can I have?

The number of taillights you can have depends on the type of vehicle, and whether it is a work vehicle or not. A general guideline is that there should be an equal number of lights on the right and left sides. For up-to-date information, please refer to your local Transportation Agency.

How do you turn on your taillights?

Most modern cars have light sensors that detect when it is getting dark and turn on the necessary lights automatically. On some cars, you may need to turn a knob on the dashboard.

Do you have taillights for my car?

We offer a variety of taillights for many car models, such as Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, VW, Saab, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and many others.
