Wiper blades - Frequently asked questions and answers
What are wiper blades?
The wiper blade is the outermost part of the windscreen wiper. It is the part that is in direct contact with the windscreen. They are often made of rubber or soft plastic so as not to damage the glass when wiping away rain and debris.
When should you change the wiper blades?
You'll notice that the wiper blade needs replacing when it's not working as well as before. For example, if the rubber starts to crack, or the blade comes off the glass. Generally, you need to change your wiper blades at least once a year, but preferably every time you change your tyres. If you wash your car often (or treat it with chemical solutions in some other way), you may need to change it several times a year.
How do you change wiper blades?
Exactly how to change wiper blades varies between makes and models, and if you're not sure, you can always ask a workshop to change them for you. But in general:
- Activate the service mode, the car's manual will tell you how to do this. On some cars this step is not necessary.
- Lift the windscreen wiper "arm". Remove the old blade. You may have to pull quite hard, but be careful. If the "arm" hits the window, the glass may crack.
- Fit the new blade to the "arm". Carefully lower the arm against the glass.
Instructions are included with all the wiper blades we sell.
How do you know which wiper blades to use?
Different cars need different types of wiper blades. Just select the make, model and year of your car to see which wiper blades we offer for that particular model.
Do you have wiper blades for my car?
We offer wiper blades for a wide range of models and makes, such as Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes, Volvo, Toyota, Vauxhall, Saab, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Citroen, Dacia, Ford, Hyundai, Honda, Renault, and many others.
